Nulty, a global lighting design consultancy, has launched an apprenticeship programme from its London studio, offering a fully supported pathway into the lighting design profession.
This pioneering initiative gives aspiring creatives the opportunity to train with one of the industry’s leading lighting design practices through a two-year placement with Nulty’s award-winning London team. Apprentices will gain hands-on experience on live projects while studying for an Advanced Diploma in Illumination Engineering.
Apprentices will spend four days a week as part of Nulty’s award-winning London team, gaining hands-on experience on live projects and participating in all aspects of the design process, from creative concept development to CAD drawing, 3D modelling, and photometric calculations. They will work alongside and be mentored by designers at every level, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the profession.
One day each week will be dedicated to classroom learning, where apprentices will study the theory of lighting design under the guidance of leading academics in the field.
Paul Nulty, Founder, Nulty said: “You can only learn so much from theory, the magic really happens when you’re solving creative challenges on real projects. That’s why we have created a programme that blends classroom knowledge with on-the-job experience, giving apprentices the best of both worlds.”
Ellie Combs, Managing Partner of Nulty London, added, “Every designer remembers that one mentor or team who gave them their first big break. This apprenticeship scheme is about creating that supportive environment for the next generation.”
Nulty’s apprenticeship programme is open to school and college leavers, as well as individuals seeking a new career path in lighting design. Applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK and demonstrate a genuine passion for design, creativity, and the built environment.
